hornsmasher

Добавлен 16 авг 2007
Hornsmasher is a website dedicated to the care and feeding of wind instruments with a little madness thrown in to keep it fun. The visualization of John Pedersen (builder and repairman of musical instruments for over 1000 years), John sees himself as the Jeykll and Hyde of instrument care. On one side, he is this crazy hornsmasher and on the other he is the Mr. Rogers of instrument care.
In each of his care videos, John demonstrates the use of his "Official Hornsmasher.com Wind Instrument Care Kits," and helps any musician
take the care of their instrument to a higher standard.

I am forever scared after this video
After many years, my old trombone finally gave out. Bought a used (upscaled in brand) one but the guy never played it for two years so the slide was in bad shape and sounded like sandpaper. Followed your instructions and VIOLA! Now the slide is smooth. Thank you for saving the day! Well done.👍🏽
2set violin watched this
THANK YOU. So helpful.
I learned a lot from this video thanks alot.
You guys are sick
I’m a kid and I FUCKING HATE YOUUUUU
How dare you
Nice
that horn is definitely playable
What about all the moisture and spit inside the horn?
I have a question. Is it okay to use a Q-tip to clean out your mouthpiece?
Some bands would love to have had that . Should have been donated
hi
Thank you! Very helpful!!!
What can I do if I turned the tuning valve and air can't pass anymore what can I do
Prolly gave ts watts
As a Sousaphone/Tuba player, this was very difficult to watch.😢
DOG FILMS ALWAYS work.!!
Looks like FUN FOR ALL!! Go, Burbank Bombers!
*PromoSM* ☀️
It was like ... a public flogging of 'the clown of the orchestra'.... but it's crime... is unclear. Bravo!
I love it... Beautifully done!!
To me, that felt like a person getting chucked down
You have been so blessed to have had that special Puppy in your life, just as so many of us have also been blessed with our own four-legged friends. I hope the pain has eased, at least a little. That pain we go through just confirms the love we have, and the importance they played, in our lives. Thank you for this video, and the reminder of the love we have for our furball friends! I still miss "Waggy-Tail" (Golden Lab - who would almost beat you to death with her tail!) and "Jumpy-Butt" (Our Chow, she would jump straight up and down like a spring!). Now excuse me, I have to go tell my wife not to cut onions when I'm trying to write these comments - my eyes water too much!
Thank you Thom, I just saw your post...It's been almost a year.....we miss him so much....we have a new basset but there will never be another Perry.......he was Perry Perfect.....the most gentle spirit I have ever known....thanks again
U should have it to me
PAIN

i got mad when i try to play the reed but it did not work. 😠
Thanks guys.........sometimes you hear a tune and visualize a cut....we had fun!!
I randomly found this video on my front page and I feel lucky today! Great video!
Same. Reminds me of the kind of thing that would show up on the front page back during RUclips's classic era.
Dont let the band kids see this... (me also being in band).
Anyone from TwoSetViolin?
Looks like it plays a little flat
We need those instruments in Africa, that breaks my heart💔💔🥺😓😭
Thanks for this, I was about to put mine in the dishwasher.
This hurts me DEEPLY
The tears fall through smiles as we mourn our loss. The vision of Dan walking the green hills calling his hounds to trail overwhelms me. May the rainbow glisten in the deep brown eyes and highlight velvet ears as they sniff the bunnies. Til we meet again.
Uno que quiere ser músico y quiere aunque sea uno de ese tipo de tuba y ustedes destruyendo como si se viera bonito
Did I hear metal against metal???!! Ouchie!! Poor, highly sensitive slide!!! Folks be careful of this one.
I had permission to use my Dads gun cleaning equipment for my slide. My old holton is early 1920’s ....beautiful tone. I played in the 50s n 60s I’m going to order some slide oil and a cleaning kit and see if it’s possible to get these ol lips back in shape. I’m thinking I’ll just work with the mouthpiece to achieve some progress. That way the neighbors won’t think it’s an invasion of a trumpeting elephant.
I remember using my dads “ram rod” from his gun cleaning supplies!! Worked perfectly for my slide.
I don't see what the issue was that this tuba wasn't usable. The old fiberglass sousaphone of a Carnaval band I used to play in had been put through some serious misery so many times... being trampled in busy cafes, cracked by smashing into door openings, getting picked up by a ton of drunk people to be blown in and dropped, being snowed under, and getting blown away by strong winds... After a week of playing from morning to evening every day, I went down with sanding paper, epoxy resin, and fiberglass and the thing was airtight again, structurally decent, well playing, fine-sounding, and ready to go another year. These are super resilient instruments, the one I used was just a cheap Selmer one, I can't imagine what someone has to do to make a Conn be too damaged to repair... Besides rolling over it with a steamroller...
